Nutritional Choice of the Month - March 2007: Turkey bacon

Turkey bacon

A meat product produced from smoked turkey, which has a similar appearance and flavor to traditional pork bacon, but is lower in calories and saturated fat. Because it contains less fat than pork bacon, turkey bacon shrinks less when cooked.  One of my top recommendations as far as brands goes would be Jennie-O Extra Lean Turkey Bacon.

Jennie-O Turkey Bacon Choose Jennie-O Extra Lean turkey bacon or three slices of soy bacon and ditch 120 calories and 13 grams of fat.  I also enjoy Trader Joe’s brand.  Pair your whole wheat toast with a slice or two of turkey bacon and a couple scrambled egg whites and you’ve got yourself one healthy breakfast!
