Nutritional Choice of the Month - June/July 2007: Raspberries

You’ll recall that in April I reviewed strawberries.  Well it’s time again for another round of berries- this time raspberries.  Traditionally enjoyed during the summer, they can be enjoyed all year round.  Personally, I often add them to smoothies along with other fresh fruits.  Raspberries possess almost 50% higher antioxidant activity than strawberries, three times that of kiwis, and ten times the antioxidant activity of tomatoes, shows research conducted in the Netherlands and published in the journal BioFactors. Included as an ingredient in your favorite summer smoothie or simply as part of a nutritious fruit salad, raspberries are a great choice for a nutritiously dense summer fruit.
